Prayer From the Heart
I love it when life is a struggle, it reminds me that I'm human. Yes there are some screwed up people around us and we ask God to remove them from us like our addiction. We don't need to beat around the bush with God and pray poetic prayers. Being blunt and specific with God is a sign acknowledging your faith. Remember God is not impressed by a flurry of fanciful words. He is listening for what your heart is saying. The heart of prayer is prayer from the heart. God desires our heart-felt pleads.

Prayer For Good in Our Lives
We prefer to ignore how dead we really are spiritually, even though for some we come close physically with disease or tragedy. "God, make me know my real end (but not through addiction), help me to measure my days so we know how fragile we are. Let us not work in vain, heaping up wealth with no idea who will get it. As we place our hope in God realizing that life is worth considering today. God help us to talk about your blessings and goodness for as long as we can. Considering the certainty of death, God can provide a dynamic approach to life while we still have it.

God Is Good
This one has surface and deep down B. S. There are good and bad people all around us. Most of them have some sort of addiction (control over others, pridefulness. . . You get the pic). We declare people or circumstances "bad" if they mess-up our plans or inconvenience us. We judge circumstances or people as "good" when they agree and support our cause. But God is the one who determines what is good or bad in our hearts. Even when something does not seem good to us, it is those around us who observe our responses to "bad" situations. When things look bad, remember God is good.

Face Your Problems
Be sure your sin will find you out. Hidden problems we have on the inside does great damage. We need to bring them to the surface and deal with it - or face defeat of what we want out of life. Dear God, reveal any areas of my life that are not pleasing and forgive me. When we talk to God he ensures forgiveness.

Help Others
While deep in our addiction or sin, alot of us never know where our next meal will come from. We reach out to those we love only to brutalize what little they have. Where in words or food, when we do our part to help others it is up to them to help themselves. Do not be shy; tell your stories of God's greatness, you never know who's heart may be ready to respond. Give someone a hand up, not a hand out.

Who are You Following?
The God book refers to people as sheep- easily distracted and influenced with following the crowd. So the big question for us is who are we following? Each other? Or the voice of wisdom to do the right thing? Our challenge today is not to make the mistake like the sheep who blindly follow each other off the cliff. Be a positive influence with yourself so others may want to follow. Take a chance and listen to the small still voice of wisdom. God Loves You.

Forgiven
"Out of the depths" of our addiction, we cry out to God in terrible guilt of things that are done and undone in the past. Unlike humans, God keeps no record of how bad we have been in the past. But, what happens if we slide back to the past? What if the guilt lingers? That is when we as humans need to find hope in God. We are not hopeless cases. We can look and find trust in God, just know we are forgiven and no record is kept of our failures. This goes alot deeper when seek him.

Walk With God
Last night before my walk, I reflected on the time when I stopped dope walking. I Never thought I would be able to walk right. Sometimes in the midst of our trials we need to think about someone else to re-adjust our thinking along with the reminder of the relationship we have with God. That is the relationship we need most when the going gets toughest. We may not always be equipped to handle all the problems we face but God is. Eventually, we realize that walking with God does not depend on our legs, it depends on our hearts. We can walk through the darkest trials when we walk with God in the light.

A New Lense
As we get older, we start to lose the battle against time. We start to see life in a skewed and distorted way. In life, pain functions like cracked lenses, creates within us a conflict between what we experience and what we believe. Pain can give us a badly distorted view on life and on God. In those times we need our God to provide us with new lenses to help us see clearly again. Refocus your eyes on God today, keep still and let life happen.

Change Yourself and You Change the World
It's a full-time job trying to get people to change. Oh what a perfect world it would be if only other people would do what we want!! (What a crock, like that's going to happen). Change the world but begin with yourself, it's not what most people want to hear! It can be a wake-up call that the problem in a struggling addictive relationship maybe Me. (Damn imagine that). It's a lesson some of us have to learn over and over. We can't change others, but through God's help, we can change our own behavior. When God works a change in us, he can change others through us.

God's Work Continues..
There will be days that you may read something you don't like, but its ok cause it works for me. Feel free to let me know. Life is not about us anymore. We are not spiritually mature the day we are saved, or walk into the rooms of recovery no more than a school kid is ready for pro-sports. We grow in faith as we allow God to empower us thru the spirit. Through hardships and lessons learned, it becomes rewarding!! God's work in us isn't over when we receive him, it's just the begining.

Don't Stop Dreaming
For sometime, now I have learned that every setback in life means we are one step closer to seeing dreams come to pass (never stop dreaming) of what you want your life to be like. We may do things wrong 1,000 times but you never know that 1,001 will be that right move. Get your fire back. Don't let life's disappointments drag you down. Create a new vision for yourself God loves you more than you'll ever know.

God's Plan For You
When we become new in recovery, we are in love with God. Yet, for those of have been there for a while may get discouraged with the struggles of life. Sometime today re-embrace your joy for God with those who have just come to know God's love. God restore in us the joy of your LOVE that we may loose along the way.

Sleep
Sleep is essential for good health, it dosen't take a scientist to know why we need it. Heck, even addicts know when they need sleep. We are always tempted to believe that the work we do when we're awake is more important than the work God does while we sleep (like pushing bad thoughts out of the way). Refusing God's gift of sleep is like telling him that our work is more important than his. God does not want anyone to be a slave of work. Enjoy the gift of sleep even if you're a recovering addict. If we do not come apart and rest a while, we might just come apart soon.

Bumper Cars and Life
Life is a lot like "bumper cars" at an amusement park, you get in knowing you're going to get hit. . . you just don't know how hard. That may be a fun strategy for bumper cars, but its a terrible strategy in life. Bumping back only escalates matters and in the end everyone suffers damage. When things like that happen we should always extend a spirit of forgiveness. God, remind us of how deeply we have offended you. Teach us to forgive others and to trust you on how to deal with those who lash out against us. Forgiveness is God's grace in action through us.

Second Chance
None of us know how long we will be here. I just thank God for what he has given me already. True happiness begins deep inside and emerges in our faces. Happiness is not a destination but a day-by-day journey found only and truly in God.

God in Quietness
Today a lot of us find no shame in helping others and realizing the willingness to share from the Bible, our rescure. There are times when the quiteness of our everyday actions speak loudly, revealing our love for God along with what he has done in the lives of many. In our desire to share with a broken world, let us not ignore the power of our silent witness. Witness for God with your life as well as well as your lips.

How it's Suppose to Be
While deep in any addiction we fail to realize what we take others; yet, others are blind to see how they affect us. If I have taken anything from anyone by false accusation, God will help me restore. When God reminds us about items or the pains we have caused, maybe even wronged others, we can honor him by making it right. Help me, dear God, to be honest and true. Give me the courage to do what is right to bring the world a glimpse of your love. A debt is never to old to pay, first to GOD then to ourselves.

Words of Kindness
Sometimes we don't know what to say. As sinners we do not need judgement, a lecture, or some smart ass-comment from people, what we are asking for is a reason to keep hoping. God give me the sensitivity not to presume guilt, but to show kindness... Remembering our lost friends or friends that are in pain. Let what we say not be a lecture, but bring hope and strength to those who are in need.

God is There Through the Storm
As time goes by, we try to remove the names that we have given ourselves such as addicts. Then we ask ourselves "Was God sadistically absent in our lives." When we try to blame God for permitting disasters that rip us from our families, friends, and loved ones, we fail to realize that God is with the suffering and dying. People take us into their homes thru prayer along with some financial help when a heartbreaking tragedy occurs. We get no satisfactory answer to life's painful problems. Even though suffering baffles our mind, we can trust God to be near and work out His purposes no matter what we go thru. The storms of our lives prove the strength of our Anchor.

Mercy of God
God calls us to live righteously, and again we all fall short of that! Despite our lack of our faith, we begin to pray for God to end our captivity from addiction or what weakens you. No one stands as tall as those on their knees asking God for mercy and help.

Use your Words Wisely
The consequences of misleading statements are serious. Some people who take words out of context just want to gain attention or win an agurment. (We know a lot of those). But, others are more sick. They twist the truth to gain power over others. They not only endanger lives but also souls. We need to know that God wants us to use him as the resource of truth, not the manipulation of others.

Healing
When
a tragedy leaves us with a void that nothing can fill (for me that void was
filled with addiction). For years those moments were encased in sadness; feelings
were frozen. The only comfort was numbness. Relief was unmanageable. Death
forms a view of life and God. The world we grow up in has little or no concept
of grace. Joy had no basis of reality. If you give yourself the time to heal,
don't be afraid to feel even if it is for the 1st time in your life. God loves
you.

Gifts for Others
A lot of people think more highly of themselves than they should, just because they are doing some things others are not doing. We've been gifted according to God's grace. He has given us those gifts to serve others, not ourselves. So, lets not look over our shoulders to see what others are doing or not doing. Look at how God may be able to use you in his kingdom today. We can't all play the same part (instrument) in God's band of service, but we should all play in harmony.

God is With You
Just remember God led u all the way through the years and the wilderness, to humble you and test you, to know what was in your heart and for you to keep what was given to you or not. God gave me a humbling reminder of how vital it is to keep my heart set on what I do today and to pay attention along the way. To love God is to listen with your heart.

Invitations to Heal (His Plan)
Hospitality opens the door to uncommon community. It's no accident that hospitality and hospital come from the same Latin word, for they both lead to the same result; healing. When you open your door to someone ,you are sending a message. "You matter to me and to God." You may think you are saying,"Come over for a visit." But, what your guest hears is, "I am worth the effort." Yet, be cautious because it may turn into an someone taking advantage of you and harm your household. Put it in prayer...

With Faith We do Have Certainty
Life is like watching sports, there are shocks and surprises, frustrations and fears because we are unsure of the outcome. We can draw comfort, however, from the fact that though many of life's situations are uncertain, faith looks beyond this transient life with hope. With faith it is not a vague life and of wistful hope, but with firmness, trust, and certainty. Peace rules the day when God rules the heart.

God Through Us
It has to be demonstrated.. You can't just speak it; You can't describe it. People have got to be able to hold it and see it. Your faith should not just come from the wisdom of other people. As we live each day, ask God to help your words align with your actions. When we allow God to show himself through us, it is a powerful demonstration of his grace and love. No matter where you have found God- whether it in the streets, at a meeting, or at the church house keep him close.
